Great Shakeout Earthquake Drill 10.17.2019

All Indiana University campuses will conduct an earthquake drill as part of the Great Central U.S. Shakeout at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2019.

In advance of the drill, please review the procedures at the link below so that you know what to do. Please use the time during the 15-minute drill to practice and discuss what you would need to do during an earthquake.

Here is more information about the drills:
• An IU-Notify message will begin the drill around 10:17 a.m., local time, with messages sent to text, email, desktops, social media, webpages and digital signs, but not including voice calls to telephones.
• The drill is expected to last 10-15 minutes. An “All clear” IU-Notify message will indicate the end of the drill.
• During an earthquake, remember to DROP-COVER-HOLD ON. For those who may use a wheelchair or walker, remember to LOCK-COVER-HOLD ON.

Visit Protect.IU.edu for more information about earthquake safety.

This drill provides an opportunity to practice your personal earthquake plan; IU Emergency Management & Continuity is available to assist with the development of such a plan and are available at iuemc@iu.edu.
