With the opening of the Medical Education and Research Building (MERB) at 350 W. 14th Street, Indianapolis now has two library locations to serve IU School of Medicine students, fellows, residents, and faculty. Campus shuttles are likely the best way to get to the MERB from the IU Indianapolis campus - or to RLML and campus from MERB.
Medical Library space at MERB consists of a main office on the first floor with one reservable self-serve presentation/recording studio, library hoteling office space, and a conference room for staff and faculty reference and research consultations. On the second floor, you'll find the Makerspace and beautiful open study space with lots of light. On the third floor, directly above the Makerspace and 2nd floor study space, there is additional library study space with docking monitor stations.
The MERB library office on the first floor (HA 1045) will be open and staffed from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday.
Self-Serve Studio Reservations are available anytime the office is open.
Note: All MERB library spaces above follow RLML Exceptions
Parking is expected to be very limited and potentially challenging for the Fall 2025 Semester. Parking is prioritized for Phase 1 students:
Nearby garage options: IU Health Neuroscience Garage, IU Health Garage #1, IU Health Garage #4
(The best way to get to MERB from garages 1 or 4 - or anywhere north of 16th street - is to go through the Neuroscience Building and exit the south entrance.)
Librarians on staff can help find books and journals, use databases, and troubleshoot citation management software.
Stop by the library's first floor office (HA 1045) to checkout: dryerase markers, laptop chargers, phone chargers, HDMI cords, headphones and ring lights.

Printing anywhere on the IU-Indianapolis Campus can be done using the Universal IU Print Service.

On July 29, 2025, the new IU Medical Education and Research Building at IU School of Medicine opened at 350 West 14th Street in Indianapolis. There is library space in the new building (HA) and the Makerspace has moved to that location - but the Ruth Lilly Medical Library at 975 W. Walnut remains open as well.
