The IU School of Medicine and the Ruth Lilly Medical Library (RLML) welcome Brittney Thomas to the role of Assistant Director for Research & Data Education. Brittney joins RLML from the University of Iowa Libraries where she served as the Associate Director of Community Engagement for the Network of the National Library of Medicine's All of Us Research Program
Brittney received her master's degree in library & information science from the University of Iowa in 2011, and has been working in college and university libraries ever since. She brings experience in grant management and project management to lead the RLML Research Team in supporting the IU School of Medicine across the entire research life cycle including proposal writing, data management, scholarly communications, and research impact. Brittney finds passion in helping connect library services to the organizational mission and is excited to bring her enthusiasm and expertise to IUSM.
Over the next few months, Brittney will be shadowing her colleagues in committees, consultations, and classes before teaching library workshops this fall, including

Brittney will also be getting acquainted with IUSM Research Affairs and strategizing how she can leverage her experiences and the skills of her colleagues on the RLML research team to maximize services that best serve IUSM’s research priorities and needs.
In addition to her work with Research Affairs, Brittney will be working with the faculty, staff, and students as the RLML liaison to the South Bend campus. She will be teaching critical appraisal sessions and engaging with students in Scholarly Concentrations.
When she’s not at work, Brittney spends her spare time chasing her two young kids and one energetic dog around the house, practicing yoga, baking, and gardening.
