What will your responsibilities at the Ruth Lilly Medical Library entail?
I will serve as the liaison to medical students at the Bloomington, Indiana campus and will support the education and instructional assessment efforts of the Ruth Lilly Medical Library.
What motivated you to become a medical librarian?
I knew I wanted to be an academic librarian after working in my undergraduate library as a student employee. I was introduced to medical librarianship in graduate school and was drawn to the importance of accurate and up to date health information for both consumers and medical professionals.
Why did you choose to become part of the faculty here at the IUSM, Ruth Lilly Medical Library?
I was impressed with how integrated the librarians are in the IU School of Medicine curriculum and valued the fact that the library supports medical education happening across the state.
What is your goal for this position?
I am looking forward to teaching information literacy concepts to medical students and conducting systematic review searches with School of Medicine faculty. I know I also have much to learn from the other librarians at the Ruth Lilly Medical Library and look forward to collaborating with them.
Outside of work, what are your hobbies and interests?
Outside of work I enjoy playing cello in community orchestras and volunteering with groups that provide free books to people in prison.
