What is your position at the Ruth Lilly Medical Library?
My position is Assistant Director for Library Technology. I am lucky to have a talented Library Technology Team, the Library Web Developer & Systems Analyst (our vital websites, social media, library staff support) and the Nexus Manager (VR, AR, 3d Printing and a host of other cool and creative technologies). I've had this position since 2017. I am also a research librarian and liaison to the Terre Haute campus. Go IU School of Medicine - Terre Haute!
How long have you been working at the library?
I have been working at the library since 1992.
What do you like most about your job or the library?
My favorite thing about working at the Medical Library is that you never know when a researcher, student, staff or clinician will contact you with an interesting question. There are so many dedicated individuals who are passionate about caring for patients, medical education, and research. It's great to be in a library.
What is your favorite food/ favorite place to eat?
I like many different ethnic cuisines and can't name one favorite at the moment. I like it when there is a fusion of different cuisines too, keeps life interesting. I have friends who are vegetarians, so I also like cooking and eating vegetarian dishes. The food as medicine movement is also interesting.
Where is your favorite place to travel?
My favorite place to travel is anywhere where there is water, such as the Great Lakes or an Ocean, or a smaller lake, river or stream.
If you could witness any historical event, what would it be and why?
I'd go back and be there for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, held in Washington DC in August 1963.
What is one item on your bucket list?
Two more Great Lakes to visit, but the other three deserve a repeat.
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would the title be?
Life in a minor key, some people think minor keys sound sad, but i think they can be mysterious.
